Wedding Guest Outfits: Know Me 2016 and Vogue 1908

Our dear friends Eliza and Trent got married at Inner North Brewing in August.  The dress code was dress to impress!  This was of course an exciting challenge for our wardrobes.  A winter Melbourne Wedding, go!

Eliza made two stunning outfits; the first dress combined the Tint of Mint Patterns Sissy Dress and McCall’s 8141 in ex-designer silk satin from Drapers Fabrics and the second dress was a Sicily Slip Dress from Sewing Masin in the same silk satin.  She made such a gorgeous Fur Cape in a powder blue faux fur from Fabric Lab using the Style Arc Greta Cape.  Check these stunning outfits out on her Instagram @eliza.sew here

Knowing what she was creating we set about working on our own outfits for the occasion.

Know Me 2016 in Jacquard from Spotlight

An excuse to make a Know Me 2016 try and stop her!  We do love thie pattern. Know Me 2016 is a design by Beaute’ J’adore. The dress is a fully lined bodice that features a shaped tiers with gathers at the front, a high neckline, bust darts, slant pockets, and an invisible back zipper. The dress pattern includes full sleeves in mid or long-length options and elastic at sleeve hem.   You will find that we have made this a number of times.

For this event Erin created the long sleeve and long skirt view in a paisley red and magenta jacquard fabric we purchased from the sale rack at Spotlight.  It is a fabric heavy dress but the finish was fantastic with the fabric sitting well in the gathered tiers and sleeve.

Finished Project

Lauren chose to rewear a dress she had created to wear to a friend’s wedding in 2023, but she loved it so much that it was time for another outing.

Vogue 1908 is an unlined dress, close-fitting through the bust with a front opening with a button and a bias loop closure. Includes collar, front and back yoke with gathers. Wrap style skirt has waist ties. Set-in sleeves have gathered shoulders and stitched hem.
