About Us!
Hello! We’re Lauren and Erin – the sisters behind Two Sewing Sisters.
We officially launched Two Sewing Sisters as a blog in 2017, but the real story began long before that…
We grew up in regional Victoria and spent countless hours in our Nan’s sewing room. It was our wonderland. We would cut out patterns, sew, and play dress-ups in all the incredible creations Nan made for our family.
What started as a childhood pastime soon became a lifelong passion. For special occasions or celebrations, we created new outfits – each one holding a story of its own. These frocks were more than garments, they were symbols of love, celebration and family support.
Together, we love sharing our makes on social media and through this blog. We test patterns for indie brands, help run social media for a pattern company, and are always on the lookout for beautiful fabric.
We would love to create something special to wear to our next big event, or to help you learn how to sew and learn a new skill.
Thank you for joining us on our sewing journey!
I'm Lauren!
In high school, we both studied Textiles at Wangaratta High School under the guidance of the wonderful Gayle O’Keefe.
I went on to study a Bachelor of Applied Science – Fashion Design at RMIT and a Certificate IV in Millinery at Kangan Batman Institute.
I’ve since taught fashion and footwear at RMIT, Holmesglen TAFE and Box Hill TAFE. I have also worked with milliners like Louise Macdonald in Melbourne and Edwina Ibbotson in London.
I'm Erin!
I studied a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Arts at Deakin University and now work as a lawyer. Sewing remains my creative outlet, and I still love making dresses whenever I get the chance.
