We spent a fantastic weekend in Napier, soaking up the events of the Art Deco Festival. One of the events we went to was Jazz in the Garden at The Old Mill, which had some rustic charm and live jazz.
Erin's Fringe Dress
Fabric: Isabella olive fringe from Maker Society
Erin found this fabulous olive fringe trim on the Maker Society website. It was 22cm deep and made of viscose. As it was deadstock, it came in a series of cut lengths, but this still worked for the dress vision, as it was possible to overlap any sections to fill any gaps or shorter lengths.
Pattern: Simplicity 3133
For the base of the dress Erin used Simplicity 3133. The key feature was the halter style dress and line around the body. The pattern has a bias cut skirt that fell into a soft aline silhouette.
For this, we created the base dress in an olive polished cotton before stitching on the tassels.

Lauren's white polka dots
Fabric: Pure white spot satin jacquard Maker Society
For this event, Lauren was looking for a polka dot inspired by the fashion of the early 1930s. We found this pure white spot satin jacquard on the Maker Society.
Pattern: Vogue 8814
We had created this pattern a number of years ago, and when we were looking for options in our pattern collection, it had some great features that aligned with the era.
Vogue 8814 is a dress with a deep V-neck and straps that cross over. There are panelled sections with a dropped waist and flared lower skirt.
