For Lauren’s Oaks Day dress we dove into our stash for this make to see what fabrics we had on hand that fit the criteria for the event. Something that was a natural fibre, preferably cotton, was a vibrant colour and ideally a floral print. We also know we wanted to create a dress so we would need at least 3 meters of fabric.
We found a piece of blue floral Cotton Sateen from Spotlight that we had purchased when it was on sale. There was enough to create a long line dress with some fun features so set about exploring what patterns we had to make something in.
Pattern: Know Me 2091
Erin had created Know Me 2091 for her red gingham Christmas outfit last year and Lauren loved the line of the bodice with full flutter sleeves. This was a perfect line for the soft femine brief of Oaks Day. She wanted to create a skirt that finished mid calf but we didn’t have enough fabric to extend the current skirt on the pattern so we put in a waist skirt and added a simple A-line skirt instead.
Know Me 2091 is a fit and flare godet dress has flared or cap sleeves option, scoop neckline, horizontal bustline, back keyhole with tie and back zipper closure designed by by Lydia Naomi.
